Colorado Sports Betting Sites: Licensed CO Apps and New Rules
Colorado has a crowded sportsbook market, a 10% tax and some of the newest consumer rules in the country. What is licensed, and what changed in 2026.
Colorado sports betting sites compete in one of the most crowded markets in the US. There are well over a dozen licensed apps, a 10% tax on net proceeds and room for every licensed casino to run an online skin. In 2026 the state also became one of the strictest on how you fund an account. Since August 12, sportsbooks can accept no more than six deposits per customer in any 24-hour period.
We cover the legal picture, the partner offers available in the state, the official roster and the rule changes that affect your account.
Is it legal to bet on sports in Colorado?
Yes. Voters narrowly approved Proposition DD in November 2019. Mobile sportsbooks opened on May 1, 2020, one of the few things in American sport that launched on schedule that spring. Tax revenue goes mainly to the Colorado Water Plan.

Licensed Colorado sportsbooks
Each online sportsbook in Colorado must partner with one of the state’s licensed casinos. The Division of Gaming’s licensed sportsbooks register holds the official, current list, including a separate tab for internet operators. Major apps live in the state include:
- Bally Bet
- bet365
- BetMGM
- BetMonarch
- BetRivers
- Caesars Sportsbook
- Circa Sports
- ClutchBet
- DraftKings
- Fanatics Sportsbook
- FanDuel
- Hard Rock Bet
- theScore Bet
Every licensed internet operator paid a $78,000 operating fee for fiscal year 2027, a figure the Limited Gaming Control Commission approved on May 21, 2026.
Why Colorado has so many apps
Colorado ties each online sportsbook to a land-based casino licensee. Those sit in the old mining towns of Black Hawk, Central City and Cripple Creek, plus the state’s two tribal casinos. Dozens of casinos means dozens of potential partners. That is how a state of under six million people ended up with more apps than New York. It has also produced churn. Brands such as Betfred have closed their Colorado books, while newer names like Circa Sports and BetMonarch moved in.
What you can bet on in Colorado
The Division of Gaming maintains a catalog of approved sports and leagues, and operators can request additions. Broncos, Nuggets, Avalanche and Rockies games anchor the local calendar. College sports, soccer, golf, tennis, combat sports and motorsport fill out the menu.
- Live betting and props: widely available on pro sports.
- Esports and niche events: Colorado has been more willing than most states to approve unusual markets. Each one still needs sign-off, and many books never list them.
- Machine sports: drone racing and robot combat are rarely posted by licensed Colorado books. Our US drone betting guide covers where those markets appear.
Winnings are taxable income on federal and Colorado returns, and sportsbooks issue W-2G forms for larger wins.
New Colorado betting rules for 2026
SB26-131: deposit caps and marketing limits
The most consequential change for bettors took effect on August 12, 2026. Under SB26-131, Colorado sportsbooks must:
- accept no more than six deposits per customer, per sportsbook, in any 24-hour period;
- stop accepting credit cards and buy-now-pay-later services;
- stop sending push notifications or texts that nudge customers to deposit or bet;
- stop marketing to anyone under 21.
HB25-1311: free-bet deductions phased out
Colorado used to let operators deduct promotional bets from taxable revenue. HB25-1311 phased that deduction out, and it ended completely on July 1, 2026. Operators now pay tax on revenue generated by bonus bets as well.
Federal tax on winnings
From January 1, 2026, bettors can deduct only 90% of gambling losses against gambling winnings on federal returns.
Colorado betting timeline
- November 2019: voters approve Proposition DD.
- May 1, 2020: online and retail sportsbooks launch.
- May 21, 2026: the Limited Gaming Control Commission sets a $78,000 fiscal 2027 fee for internet sportsbooks.
- July 1, 2026: the promotional bet tax deduction ends under HB25-1311.
- August 12, 2026: SB26-131 takes effect, capping deposits and banning credit cards.
The direction of travel is clear. Colorado started as one of the most operator-friendly states, letting books write off promotional bets and approving a long list of niche markets. Six years on, its rules look more like a consumer-protection regime. Operators get fewer tax breaks, you have fewer ways to fund an account quickly, and marketing faces tighter limits.
For bettors, the practical effect of SB26-131 is to plan deposits rather than top up on impulse. The six-deposit cap applies per sportsbook, not across your accounts. It curbs impulse top-ups without stopping you from shopping lines.
Prediction markets in Colorado
Colorado has not taken enforcement action against prediction markets, and apps such as FanDuel Predicts and Polymarket accept Colorado users. Underdog Predict excludes the state. Platform lists change quickly while the federal courts remain split, so check each app before you trade. Trading event contracts involves risk of loss.
How we pick the Colorado offers on this page
We only show partner offers that are licensed or legally available in Colorado. We check each one against the operator’s own terms and eligible-state list, not third-party promo sites. Sportsbook offers appear only where the brand holds a Colorado license. Sweepstakes brands appear only where their terms do not exclude the state. Where a brand is restricted, as AmWager is in some states, we leave it out even if it is a partner elsewhere.
Offers can change without notice, so the terms shown in the operator’s app at sign-up always take precedence over any summary here.
How to register with a Colorado sportsbook
- Choose a licensed app and download it from the App Store or Google Play.
- Sign up with your legal name, date of birth, address and SSN digits.
- Enable location services so the app can confirm you are in Colorado.
- Deposit with a debit card, bank transfer or e-wallet. Credit cards are no longer allowed, and you are limited to six deposits a day per sportsbook.
- Set your own deposit, wager and time limits in the account settings.
