Lucky 15 Calculator: Returns From One Winner to Four

Calculate the returns of a Lucky 15 with any combination of winners, with the 15-bet breakdown and when an each-way Lucky 15 makes sense.

A Lucky 15 turns four selections into 15 bets, so one winner still pays something and four winners can pay handsomely. It is a staple of Saturday racing in Britain. Enter your four prices and results below and the Lucky 15 calculator works out every line for you.

What is in a Lucky 15

Bet type Number of bets Selections in each
Singles 4 1
Doubles 6 2
Trebles 4 3
Four-fold 1 4
Total 15

Each line is a separate bet at your unit stake, so a £1 Lucky 15 costs £15 and a £1 each-way Lucky 15 costs £30.

How Lucky 15 returns are calculated

Convert each price to decimal odds. Each single returns stake × its odds. Each double returns stake × the product of its two prices, and so on up to the four-fold. Add up every line that contains only winners. Any line with a loser returns nothing.

Worked example: £1 Lucky 15

Your four horses are 2/1, 3/1, 4/1 and 5/1, or 3.0, 4.0, 5.0 and 6.0 in decimal. Stake: £15.

All four win

  • Singles: 3 + 4 + 5 + 6 = £18
  • Doubles: 12 + 15 + 18 + 20 + 24 + 30 = £119
  • Trebles: 60 + 72 + 90 + 120 = £342
  • Four-fold: 3 × 4 × 5 × 6 = £360
  • Total return: £839, profit £824

Two win (the 2/1 and 3/1)

  • Singles: £3 + £4 = £7
  • Double: 3 × 4 = £12
  • Total return: £19, profit £4

One wins (the 5/1)

  • Single: £6
  • Total return: £6, a loss of £9, before any one-winner bonus your bookmaker offers

Each-way Lucky 15s

An each-way Lucky 15 adds a place version of all 15 bets, doubling the cost. Selections that place but do not win still feed the place lines at the fraction of the odds on offer. It suits bigger-priced runners in competitive handicaps, where several places are paid. Our each-way calculator shows how the place part is worked out.

When to use a Lucky 15 calculator

  • Before placing, to see how many winners you need at your prices to make a profit.
  • When comparing bookmaker offers, as one-winner bonuses and all-winner boosts vary between firms. Our UK horse racing betting sites guide compares them.
  • After racing, to check your settled returns, including non-runners, which typically turn into a reduced bet.
  • For football, where Lucky 15s on four match results work the same way. For prices in other formats, use our odds converter.

Lucky 15 vs Yankee vs Lucky 31

A Yankee drops the four singles, so it costs £11 at £1 a line but returns nothing from a single winner. A Lucky 31 adds a fifth selection and covers 31 bets. The Lucky 15 sits in the middle: enough cover to soften a bad day, small enough that four winners still pay well.

Lucky 15 mistakes to avoid

  • Picking four favourites. Short prices make the doubles and trebles small, and one winner rarely covers the £15 outlay.
  • Using related selections. Two horses in the same race cannot both win, which kills every multiple that contains both.
  • Ignoring the bonuses. One-winner and all-winner extras vary between bookmakers. They can change which firm gives the best value on the same four selections.

FAQ

What is a Lucky 15 bet?

A Lucky 15 is 15 bets on four selections: four singles, six doubles, four trebles and one four-fold accumulator. A £1 Lucky 15 costs £15, or £30 each-way.

How many winners do you need to profit on a Lucky 15?

It depends on the prices. One winner returns only its single, so it usually needs to be a big price to cover the £15 stake. Two winners at modest odds often produce a small profit thanks to the double.

Do bookmakers pay bonuses on a Lucky 15?

Many UK bookmakers offer Lucky 15 extras, such as boosted odds if you have only one winner or a bonus if all four win. Terms vary by bookmaker and by sport, so check the offer before placing the bet.

What is the difference between a Lucky 15 and a Yankee?

A Yankee is 11 bets on four selections: the same doubles, trebles and four-fold as a Lucky 15, but without the four singles. That makes it cheaper but means one winner returns nothing.
