Fast Withdrawal Betting Sites: The UK Bookmakers That Pay Out in Hours, Not Days

Seven UK bookmakers compared on the withdrawal times they publish themselves, with the payment methods that get your money back fastest.

Fast withdrawal betting sites UK: official payout times at SBK, Betfred, Spreadex, bet365, LiveScore Bet, Virgin Bet and Smarkets

The fastest payout in British betting is not a bookmaker, it is a payment method. A Visa debit card on Fast Funds or a PayPal account can have winnings back with you the same afternoon; a standard bank transfer from the same bookmaker can take five working days. To find out who really pays quickly, we went through each operator’s own help pages and recorded only the times they publish themselves. Seven bookmakers made the cut.

Every time quoted here comes in two parts: how long the bookmaker takes to approve the request, and how long your bank or wallet then takes to show the money. Both matter, and the second is the one most marketing leaves out. A site that boasts of “instant withdrawals” may still hold your request for a day before anything moves.

Fast payout bookmakers compared on official withdrawal times

The table sets the seven side by side. “Processing” is the bookmaker’s own approval; “arrival” is what happens once the money has been released to your card, wallet or bank.

Withdrawal times as published by each bookmaker
Bookmaker Processing Fastest method Arrival by fastest method Bank transfer
SBK Within 30 mins (Visa) Visa with Fast Access Funding Within 30 minutes Online banking if card not supported
Betfred Security checks up to 48 hours if needed Debit card / Visa Fast Funds Instant, up to 3 hours 3–5 banking days
Spreadex Approval first Debit card Within 2 hours of approval Within 2 working days
bet365 Aims for 4 hours, up to 24 Card or Apple Pay Up to 2 banking days Up to 5 banking days
LiveScore Bet Aims for 24 hours PayPal, Trustly, Visa Almost instant (Visa 2–3 hours) 2–3 working days, max 5
Virgin Bet Within 24 hours PayPal, Apple Pay Almost instant 2–3 working days, max 5
Smarkets Instant Bank within 12 hours Instant Bank Transfer Within 12 hours 5–10 business days

Read across the rows and a pattern emerges. The quickest total times belong to sites that either approve almost at once (SBK, Spreadex once a request is cleared) or that pair a short approval window with a near-instant payment rail. The slowest belong, everywhere, to the ordinary bank transfer.

Which UK bookmakers pay out fastest? Seven sites, one by one

  1. SBK

SBK’s help centre says Visa withdrawals are processed within 30 minutes if your bank supports Fast Access Funding, the quickest published turnaround on this page. If your bank does not support it, card withdrawals are not available and the money goes back by online banking instead, under SBK’s closed-loop policy. SBK absorbs Visa fees on deposits and withdrawals, so the amount you request is the amount you receive. That combination makes it the obvious home for app-first punters with a mainstream Visa debit card who want their cash back within the hour. New customers get £40 in free bets for a £10 bet at 3.0 or bigger; our SBK review covers the sportsbook itself.

  2. Betfred

Betfred says debit card withdrawals should be instant but can take up to three hours, and that its Visa Fast Funds payments take around three hours at most; an ordinary Visa debit payout without Fast Funds can take up to two days. Card withdrawals run from a £5 minimum to £9,999.99. PayPal aims for instant too, with a 48-hour ceiling and a £5,000 maximum, and Skrill and Neteller work on the same terms. Betfred charges no fees on any method, though every withdrawal can face security checks of up to 48 hours, and bank transfers need at least £25 and take three to five banking days. For racing and football bettors who want fee-free card payouts and a wide choice of e-wallets, it is hard to beat. The Betfred review explains the £50 welcome offer.

  3. Spreadex

Spreadex says card withdrawals arrive within two hours of being approved, capped at £25,000 per withdrawal, with several allowed in a day. That ceiling is the highest on this page, which makes Spreadex the natural choice for higher-staking customers who want large sums paid quickly. Some card issuers cannot take these fast payments, in which case expect the older two to five days. A bank transfer lands within two working days, and Pay by Bank is the quickest route of all if you deposited that way. Anyone who needs money the same day by bank can pay £25 for a CHAPS transfer. Our Spreadex review covers both the fixed-odds and spread betting sides.

  4. bet365

bet365 aims to process withdrawals within four hours of the request, occasionally stretching to 24 hours. After that, card and Apple Pay withdrawals can take up to two banking days to reach your account, and bank transfers up to five. In practice that makes bet365 quick to approve but dependent on your card issuer, so it suits punters who value the deepest in-play markets and can wait a banking day for the cash. The bet365 review covers the Bet £10 Get £30 offer and Promo Code 365GMBLR.

  5. LiveScore Bet

LiveScore Bet aims to process every withdrawal internally within 24 hours. Once that is done, PayPal and Trustly withdrawals clear almost instantly and Visa takes two to three hours. Mastercard is noticeably slower at one to three working days, and bank transfers take two to three working days, five at most. If you already bank through PayPal or Trustly, this is one of the cleaner routes on the market: one waiting period, then the money lands. See the LiveScore Bet review.

  6. Virgin Bet

Virgin Bet, LiveScore Bet’s sister brand, also processes withdrawals within 24 hours, during which they show as “Pending” before moving to “Confirmed”. Apple Pay and PayPal then arrive almost instantly, while Visa and Mastercard take about one to three working days; Virgin Bet’s help pages add that, once approved, a payout to a bank typically clears in one to five business days depending on the provider. There are no fees on Visa, Mastercard, PayPal or bank transfer. iPhone users who deposit with Apple Pay and want withdrawals back the same way are best served. More in our Virgin Bet review.

  7. Smarkets

Smarkets is a betting exchange rather than a bookmaker, but its banking deserves a place here. Instant Bank withdrawals are processed within 12 hours with no fee, a £10 minimum and a £100,000 maximum, while Visa debit takes one to six business days and a standard bank transfer five to ten, with a £20 minimum. For exchange users who deposit by Instant Bank and take the money back the same way, it is quick and free. Our guide to UK betting exchanges explains how Smarkets works, and the Smarkets promo code page covers the 0% commission offer.

Instant withdrawal methods: Visa Fast Funds, PayPal and Apple Pay compared

Visa Fast Funds is Visa’s real-time payout service and the main reason card withdrawals have become so quick. Betfred names it directly; SBK calls it Fast Access Funding. Not every bank supports it, and where it is missing the bookmaker falls back on slower routes: at Betfred that means up to two days for a standard Visa debit payout, and at SBK it means online banking. Mastercard has no equivalent in the times published here, which is why LiveScore Bet and Virgin Bet both quote one to three working days for it.

PayPal is near-instant once the bookmaker releases the money at LiveScore Bet, Virgin Bet and Betfred. It comes with one significant drawback for new customers: several welcome offers exclude it. Betfred’s sign-up deal requires a debit card in your name, William Hill rules out PayPal and Apple Pay deposits for its £30 offer, and Ladbrokes and Coral exclude PayPal too. If you want both the free bets and a PayPal exit, you will usually have to open the account with a card.

Apple Pay splits the field. Virgin Bet pays it almost instantly; bet365 quotes up to two banking days, the same as for a card. Instant bank transfer, sold as Trustly or Pay by Bank, is near-instant at LiveScore Bet, within 12 hours at Smarkets and the quickest route at Spreadex if you deposited that way. At the other end of the scale, the standard bank transfer is the slowest option everywhere, ranging from two working days at Spreadex to ten business days at Smarkets.

Bookmaker processing time versus bank clearing time

A withdrawal passes two gates. First the bookmaker reviews and approves it: four hours is bet365’s target, 24 hours is the norm at LiveScore Bet and Virgin Bet, and Betfred reserves up to 48 hours for security checks. Then the payment provider moves the money. “Instant” in a bookmaker’s marketing almost always refers to the second stage alone.

So add the two together. A Virgin Bet PayPal withdrawal requested at 9pm can sit as “Pending” until the following evening and then arrive in seconds, for a real-world wait of nearly a day. A bet365 card withdrawal approved in four hours can still take two banking days to clear. SBK’s 30-minute Visa figure and Spreadex’s two hours from approval are the closest anyone comes to a genuinely same-session payout.

Timing matters too, because card and bank arrival times are quoted in working or banking days. A £200 card withdrawal from bet365 requested on a Friday evening could be approved that night and still not appear until Tuesday. PayPal and instant bank routes are less exposed to the weekend once the bookmaker has done its part.

ID verification and why a first withdrawal takes longer

Since May 2019, UK operators have had to verify your age and identity before you deposit or bet. Even so, a first withdrawal is where any outstanding checks surface: a document request, a proof-of-address query, or a source-of-funds question on larger sums. Virgin Bet will not pay out while you have an open verification request, and Betfred advises completing verification as soon as you sign up. Upload your documents on day one and your first payout should run at normal speed.

Two housekeeping points save a surprising amount of grief. Withdraw only to an account in your own name, and keep the card you deposited with active. An expired or replaced card is one of the commonest reasons a payout bounces back, and sorting it out means another round of checks.

Can you cancel a pending withdrawal? The reverse-withdrawal ban

Until 2021, some sites let you cancel a pending withdrawal and carry on betting with the money. The Gambling Commission banned reverse withdrawals for all online operators from 31 October 2021, and its rule is short: customers “must not be given the option to cancel their withdrawal request”. Smarkets and Virgin Bet both state that pending withdrawals cannot be cancelled.

A pending status therefore simply means the request is in the approval queue. The money cannot be tempted back into play, which is precisely the point of the rule.

Closed-loop payments: why bookmakers choose where your money goes

Bookmakers return funds to the methods you deposited with, a fraud and money-laundering control known as closed loop. Virgin Bet publishes a clear illustration, based on your net deposits over the previous six months: deposit £200 by Visa and £100 by PayPal, build a £500 balance, and you must send £200 back to the Visa card before you can withdraw more than £100 to PayPal. Smarkets says it may split a withdrawal across methods for the same reason, and SBK sends money back by online banking when a card cannot receive it.

The practical lesson is to deposit with the method you want to be paid by. Mixing a card, an e-wallet and a bank transfer on one account is the surest way to end up with a payout arriving in three pieces on three different days.

Five ways to get bookmaker winnings paid faster

  1. Verify your account fully before you need to withdraw.
  2. Deposit with a Visa debit card or PayPal, not a bank transfer.
  3. Ask your bank whether your debit card supports Visa Fast Funds; if it does not, card payouts fall back to slower routes.
  4. Request withdrawals early on a weekday, since card and bank times are quoted in working days.
  5. Keep one deposit method per account so closed-loop rules never split your payout.

Setting limits and getting help with gambling

Fast withdrawals cut both ways. If winnings arrive quickly, so can the urge to redeposit them. Betting is for over-18s only, and every UK site lets you set a deposit limit when you open the account; it is worth doing before the first bet rather than after a bad week. If you want a break from every UK-licensed site at once, register with GAMSTOP, which all online operators must honour. FAQ

Which UK betting site has the fastest withdrawals?

On published times, SBK says Visa withdrawals are processed within 30 minutes if your bank supports Fast Access Funding. Spreadex says card withdrawals arrive within two hours of approval, and Betfred says debit card withdrawals are instant or take up to three hours.

What is the fastest way to withdraw from a bookmaker?

A Visa debit card that supports Fast Funds, or an e-wallet such as PayPal once the bookmaker has processed the request. Standard bank transfers are the slowest route, usually two to five working days.

Why is my first withdrawal from a betting site slower?

The bookmaker must be satisfied it knows who you are before it pays out, and a first withdrawal is where outstanding checks surface. Uploading your ID and proof of address when you open the account removes most of the delay.

Can I cancel a withdrawal from a UK bookmaker?

No. The Gambling Commission has banned reverse withdrawals for online operators since 31 October 2021, so once you request a withdrawal you cannot pull the money back into your betting balance.

Do UK bookmakers charge withdrawal fees?

Not on standard methods at the sites we checked. Betfred says it charges no fees on any method, and Smarkets and SBK absorb card fees. Spreadex charges £25 for a same-day CHAPS payment.

Why can't I withdraw to PayPal when I deposited by card?

Closed-loop rules send money back to the methods you deposited with. At Virgin Bet, for example, if you deposited £200 by Visa and £100 by PayPal, you must return £200 to the Visa card before withdrawing more than £100 to PayPal.

Do bookmakers pay out at weekends?

Bank and card arrival times are quoted in working or banking days, so a card withdrawal requested on a Friday evening may not land until the following week. PayPal and instant bank routes are less affected once the bookmaker has processed the request.
