XBlades Racing The UK’s XBlades Racing proudly declare themselves to be the ‘world’s leading drone racing team’, and it’s hard to argue with that. Formerly called NexxBlades, XBlades Racing are pushing drone technology and pilot skill to new levels.
XBlades have competed more than any other Drone Champions League team, and won more too. Their stats, as of 2021, stands at 19 wins and 30 podium finishes from 34 races.
And in 2020, on the last day of the championship, XBlades made it five titles in a row when they took 1st place ahead of APEX Racing and America’s Quad Force One. Indeed, in that season’s semi-final, XBlades destroyed the Quad Force One team 15-1.
However, the final versus APEX Racing was harder-fought. It also relied on pilot skill after the World Championship became purely virtual for the first time. XBlades came out 250-220 winners against APEX at the McDonald’s Virtual Drone Grand Prix Lake Zurich.
Among the XBlades DCL team, there are some superstars of the drone racing scene, including Britain’s Luke “BANNIUK” Bannister and Owen “KNIGHTHAWK” Knight, and France’s Killian “DARKEX” Rousseau.
In 2016, at the age of just 15, Bannister won $250,000 by winning the World Drone Prix in Dubai. Flying for the Tornado X-Blades Banni UK team, Bannister won the cash and plaudits in a race that promised a $1m prizepool.
