Drone racing is the eSports phenomenon that’s taking the world by storm. You can now watch and bet on your favorite Drone Racing League (DRL) teams and racers from the comfort of your own home.
Bet for real money on the winner of the next level, or bet outright on the winner of the world championship or season.
What is the Drone Racing League?
Drone racing is a competition where racers, called pilots, manoeuvre drones around a virtual racecourse. In stadiums, competitors wear VR headsets that stream live camera feeds direct from the drones.
Drone racing is also available in a virtual setting. Amateurs can play drone racing games on Xbox, while pro pilots compete in the DRL SIM, a drone racing simulator.
In a typical DRL race, 12 pilots compete to earn points (1 point for 12th, up to 12 points for 1st). The DRL pilot who’s accrued the most points at the end of the season wins the league.
There are currently seven teams competing in the DRL. Each team consists of five pilots. During the 2024 Champions League, there were eight teams, including some of the biggest pros in the world:
- APEX
- China Dragons
- Drone Sports
- Raiden Racing
- Falcons Racing
- XBlades
- Quad Force One
Where is Drone Racing League Betting Available in UK?
eSports gambling is perfectly legal in the UK, and virtually all good sportsbooks offer betting on competitions like Call of Duty and League of Legends.
In 2017, PaddyPower became the first online bookmaker to post odds on the DRL World Championship. However, since then, UK bookies have been slow to add drone racing to their list of markets.
Despite holding a UK gambling licence and offering legal sports betting in the UK, DraftKings UK has yet to add DRL to its list of markets.
However, DraftKings recently signed a deal with the Drone Racing League to allow race betting in several regulated US states. In time, DraftKings UK could follow suit.
UK bookmakers that accept drone betting:
- PaddyPower
- William Hill
- Betfair
- 888sport
- Coral
- 10bet
- Grosvenor Sports
888Sport, William Hill and bet365 and other UK betting sites offer drone racing odds, though mostly up to the specific drone races.
