The latest chapter of the Drone Racing League rounds to a climactic close on Saturday (January 30) when the 2020 DRL Allianz World Championship hosts its 16th and final level of the season.

And the competition returns to familiar territory when pilots will compete on a simulated map of the Allianz Riviera in Nice, France.

Unibet NJ/PA/IN is one of the few sportsbooks offering a market to bet on the Drone Racing League, and rookie pilot Christian “Amari” van Sloun returns as the -250 favorite to emerge on top once again. Amari was the frontrunner to take victory in Wednesday’s Biosphere level before Nubb stole in to take first place in the Golden Heat:

A total of 10 pilots will once again take to the DRL Simulator in a bid to make a last dash over the finish line, with Timothy “TC” Trowbridge at the back of the queue once more at +10000 odds.

While it was Nubb who took the top prize in Level 15 in midweek, many might agree it was Sky who stood out as one of the more consistent performers across the entire event. The sunglass-shaded competitor kept a cool head for the most part and won three heats leading up to the finale—more than any other pilot—which would have been four were it not for a late slip in Heat 4 of the finals.

Timothy “Sky” Ichiyasu comes third in the Level 16 stakes at +700 odds, which appear the most appetising on offer if he’s able to carry through the momentum of Wednesday performances. Ichiyasu is noted for consistently performing in the DRL’s SIM Tryouts, which has put him in good stead for a season racing exclusively by virtual means.

Able to cut corners as fine as any other pilot and with confidence to spare, Sky gets our pick as a potentially high-value underdog for the 2020 DRL Allianz World Championship finale.

Prediction: Sky to win Stage 16 (+700)
